Nuu-chah-nulth Nation

Born in 1979 in Victoria, British Columbia, Tom Paul apprenticed under his father, master carver Tim Paul. Completing a near ten year apprenticeship, Tom carves on a part time basis while attending North Island College where he is studying to become a chef.

Tom is a talented emerging artist who already has impressive commissions under his belt. Assisting his father, Tom helped to complete larger monumental projects in Ottawa, New Zealand and Japan. Tom respects the traditions of his people and has proved to be successful in developing his own style while learning the forms and methods of the past.
