Tony Curley was born on April 1, 1964, in the community of Cape Dorset, Baffin Island, Northwest Territories. He is the son of artist Kellypalik Curley.
Like many Inuit artists, Tony mostly draws his inspiration from Arctic wildlife. His favoriate subject matter is the polar bear. Tony's style is highly representative of Cape Dorset art. It is rooted in a love of naturalism, but has incorporated an affinity for decorative sylization and dramatic expression.
