Mary was born in Chantry Inlet, April, 1936. She is a member of a very artistically active family. She is the daughter of renowned Baker Lake artist Jessie Oonark and the sister of Victoria Mamnguqsualuk, Janet Kigusiuq, Josiah Nuilaalik, William Noah, Nancy Pukingnaq and Miriam Marealik Qiyuk. Her husband, Morman Singaqti, is also a carver. Mary works mainly in sculpture and wall hangings, and has participated extensively in exhibitions since the 1960s.
